Push of Pike 2005
Renaissance Wargaming Tournament

The second annual Push of Pike tournament was held at the North Shore Wargames Club on the weekend of 3-4 September. The theme for the tournament was European armies from 1618-1648 including the Thirty Years' War and English Civil Wars. As well as the Push of Pike trophy, we also have prizes supplied by Urban Warfare. Thanks to Urban Warfare for their support!

Head Hunter's Award for destroying the most enemy generals - Jono Wrait (a tally of six heads)
Best Presented Army - Jono Wrait - Parliamentarians
The award for the Best Presented Army was decided by the votes of all the participants. It encompasses the painting, basing, terrain, and overall composition and style of the army. As well as the winning Parliamentarian army, other highly regarded armies included Stuart's French, Andrew's French, Bryan's Royalists, and Greg's Parliamentarians.

Date: 3-4 September 2005
Venue:
Saturday - Auckland Wargaming Club, Balmoral Scout Hall, Pollard Park, Waitomo Ave, Balmoral.
Sunday - North Shore Wargames Club, Castor Bay Scout Hall, Richards Avenue, Forrest Hill, North Shore, Auckland.
Entry Fee: $20 (includes lunch on both days). Pay at the venue.
Competition Rules: DBR rules, version 2. 15mm scale. Table size 6 x 4 feet.
Draw: The tournament has two four-hour rounds per day, beginning at 9:00am.
The draw uses the Swiss chess system. The first round draw will attempt to match historical opponents where possible.
Victory Points: As per page 24 of the rules, plus 100 points for breaking the opponent's army without being broken yourself.
Byes: If the number of competitors is uneven or becomes uneven during the competition, a bye scoring 110 points will be awarded to the current lowest scoring player.
Army Lists: Armies of 400AP
AP: Push of Pike will use these revised element costs. Note that this has been superseded by the table in the most recent POP webpages.

You may submit two army lists before 27 August, or one list after that date. If you submit two, then both selections must be from the same army list and from the same date and nationality, dynasty, geographic, regional and political sub-division (including the same general or leader if this affects troop choice). The decision on which selection to use is written down when nominating a season of the year at the beginning of the game.
