Push of Pike XXI
Renaissance Wargaming Tournament

PoP is a 15mm DBR tournament.

Date: To be confirmed, but likely to be 26-27 September 2026
Venue: To be confirmed, but likely to be Mairangi Bay Scout Hall, 20 Hastings Road, Mairangi Bay, Auckland 0630.
Registration: To register for the event, email your army list to the organiser before 21 September. Email: pabela@xtra.co.nz
Entry fee: $20. Pay on arrival at the venue.

Prizes: Medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, with the Pop Gun to be held for a year by the winner. There is a Players' Choice award voted on by all participants.

Scoring: Tournament placings will be ranked by the number of wins (breaking the opposing army without being broken yourself), followed by number of draws.
Victory Points (defined under Victory & Defeat in the rules) will be used to rank players with the same number of wins or draws or losses.

The theme is Arquebus! Western Europe 1494-1540.

Armies and lists
15mm scale, 400 AP, Kiwi AP.

These lists are included in the theme.
Allied contingents are only allowed from these lists.
Lists may only use options allowed up to 1540.

Rules

We will use DBR version 2.0 rules with some modifications:
(Page references are to the 2004 edition. Later reprints might have different page numbers.)

Baggage

• Allied baggage is added to their own command, as per the rules.
• Other baggage is grouped together but not part of any command. It adds its ME to the overall army total. If mobile, it may be moved with the C-in-C's PIPS.

Terrain

• If a road is compulsory, that is 1-2 pieces not 1-2 FE. (See page 12, paragraph 8)

Deployment and starting the game

• Both sides must deploy no closer than 200 paces from the centre line, unless in a fortified BUA. (See page 15, paragraph 6)
• Defender takes the first move. The weather score is based on the defender's first bound PIP dice, not the attacker's. (See page 12, paragraph 3)

Overhead shooting

• To be a valid target for overhead shooting, an enemy element must be at least a base width beyond any part of an intervening friendly element. (See page 19, paragraph 3)

Shot

• Troops classified in the WRG lists as Sh (I) and armed with musket may be chosen as Mkt (I) for 5AP. Range 200p, outcomes as Sh (I).
• Troops classified in the WRG lists as Sh (F) and armed with musket may be chosen as Mkt (F) for 6AP. Range 200p, outcomes as Sh (F).
• Summary of Shot reclassified as Arq and Msk.

Separating from a group (See page 16)

• The 2 extra PIPs to separate from a group apply only to elements that are specified as being able to give or receive close combat flank or rear support (See page 20); or to shoot from a rear rank or to have a rear rank shooting with it (See page 19).
