Club meeting 11 December 2022
Today was the final meeting of the year, so a Merry Christmas and/or bah humbug to you all. Our next scheduled meeting will be on Sunday 8 January in the year 2023!
Meanwhile, we had a bunch of interesting games at the club today.
KOW - Alan (Kingdoms of Men) played Kendall (Empire of Dust with Orc allies)
FOGN - Andrew (Prussian 1813) played Brett (French 1809)
Philip (French 1795) played Rob (Polish 1813)
Mike (French peninsular 1814) played Shaun (Anglo-Spanish 1812). This was the first battle for the newly-painted British who looked splendid while their Spanish allies ran away.
Flames of War - Kit (US) played Steve (Germans) in a wintery Bulging terrain.
Club meeting November 27 2022
Heaps of games on at today's meeting:
KOW - The first outing for the Big Red Book at the club saw a couple of games between Alan and Rob, first with Kingdoms of Men against the Northern Alliance, and the second with KOM again against the Dwarves.
DBR - Kit (Montrose Scottish) played Philip (English Civil War Parliamentarian). A splendid navy of Airfix Golden Hinds ruled the waves.
FOGN - Andrew (French) played Kendall (French Guard 1809). Six guard units defeated an army of non-guard.
Brett (French at Berezina) played Mike (French in Spain 1814). Another glorious French victory!
Flames of War - The best turnout for FOW we have seen for a long time.
Malcolm & Shaun (US) played Steve (Germans)
Malcolm (US) played Shaun (Germans)
Ben (Germans) played Lee (Soviets)
Ben (Germans) played Stephen (British)
and finally Lee (Soviets) played Steve (Germans) with captured Panthers fighting against Panthers.
November 12-13 2022 (Napoleonic tournament)
This weekend we had a Napoleonics tournament to playtest the latest version of the FOG-N rules. We had 9 players using a good variety of armies:
French Republican Forces at Toulon 1793
French Armies in Germany 1795-97
Austrian Army of the Lower Rhine 1796-97
Ottoman Turkish Army in Europe 1799-1812
Austrian Army of the Danube 1805
Saxon Army of 1809
Allied Army in Spain and France 1812-14

Congratulations to Corbon for winning first place with the 1815 US Army.

Another quieter meeting today, but we still had a couple of tables up.
DBA - Philip A and Phil B had a couple of DBA games using Sea Peoples v Maori, and New Kingdom Egyptians v Bosporan Greeks

We held our best ever POP with 16 participants and some great looking armies on display. Congratulations to John, Stu and Richard for winning 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Grant won the painting prize for his Polish army.

Napoleonic tournament, May 28-29 2022
We had a two-day Napoleonic tournament at the club with ten players. Congratulations to Mike for winning first place, Shaun second, and Corbon third.

At the AGM we elected the club committee - Brett is President; Kit, treasurer; Stu, secretary; Shaun and Rob are committee members. The club fees are $50 for the year. Please pay to our bank account 03-0181-0079415-000

TDFG - Braith, Bruce and Philip played a couple of 1859 Franco-Austrian games using the rules They Died For Glory.

Club meeting 23 January 2022
We had a great turn-out at the club today with a big multi-player game and four other games.
Frostgrave - Greg and Simon had a game on some suitably icy terrain.
DBA - David (Anglo-Danes) played Phil B (Lithuanians) in Big Battle DBA.
Flames of War - Ben, Paul and Robert had a FOW game.
FOG Napoleonics - Al (Peninsular British) played Shaun (Spanish)
Brett organised a refight of the 1809 Battle of Eckmühl and provided almost all of the figures for both armies. The French players were Andrew, Kendall and Kit. The Austrians were Mike, Philip and Stu. It was an epic game upsetting the historical result, with the Austrian team winning the game.
Next Sunday, the 30th, is a fifth-Sunday meeting. We're still intending for the club to operate under the Red traffic light, and will be in contact with members if there's any change.
Club meeting 9 January 2022
The weather was hot, and so was the cricket. Inside the hall we had a couple of entertaining games.
DBR 15mm - Kendall (Prussians) played Kit (Scots Jacobites). Two recently painted armies were showing off their new uniforms while practicing for Push of Pike. POP2021 will be rescheduled for some time early this year, and then POP2022 will return at the usual time in late September.
FOG Napoleonics - Mike H (Ottoman Turks) played Philip (1815 British)
Next meeting we are looking forward to a multi-player Napoleonics game between the French and Austrians.
