Club meeting 29 December 2019
Today was the final meeting of the year, a fifth Sunday, and it was a well-attended meeting.

Philip (French 1795) played Stu (Saxons 1809)
DBA Grant and Kendall had a couple of DBA games using Romans and Medieval English.
Club meeting 22 December 2019
Our annual fantasy competition, Kings of Shore, was on today. Eight of us took part using 1250 point armies and the new 3rd edition of the rules. Rob won first place using the Northern Alliance, Kit was the best sport, and Philip's Nightstalkers won the painting prize.
As well as KOS, it was also a regular club meeting with a couple of FOGN games: Andrew (French) played Mike B (Anglo-Netherlands 1815), and Al (Peninsular British) played Grant (Peninsular French).

As well as the regular 800 games, we tried out the 500 point variant in several games: Brett played Kendall, Kit played Mike H, and Kendall played Kit.
Kings of War - The version 3 rulebook has arrived which we'll be using for Kings of Shore on the 22nd of December. Alan and Philip had a game today using Goblins and Nightstalkers.

Flamescon 9-10 November 2019
A good showing from our club at the Flames of War tournament, both in terms of attendance and competition results. And getting stuff painted. Lee was 1st, Rob 2nd, and Ben 3rd. Jolly good show!
Club meeting 27 October 2019
A very quiet day at the club today, with several of us away at HMC. Today's games were Kit and Ben playing in Flames of War getting some practice for Flames Con, and a FOGN game between Brett (Austrians) and Andrew (French 1812) with a win to Andrew in a very close game.
Heavy Metal Con 26-27 October 2019
HMC is a 25mm DBMM tournament hosted by the Pukekohe club. This year we had a good number of us playing - Rob, Al, Philip and Grant - but no silverware to take away this time. Here's Grant's Libyan army with lots of Libyans, Sea Peoples, and extra supplementary Libyans.

It's the fifth Sunday of the month, so we had another meeting. And daylight saving time didn't seem to affect attendance much either! Games at the club today:

ADLG Greg and Mike H had a 15mm ancients game using Art De La Guerre rules; the first time ADLG has been played at the club.
DBMM Rob (Medieval Portuguese) played Philip (Kushite Egyptians) in a 25mm DBMM 240 game.

Mike B (French 1815) played Philip (Anglo-Netherlands 1815)
Chain of Command Kendall and Kit had a 15mm WWII game, with lots of nice new terrain on display.
Flames of War Lee had a couple of games against Phil and Ray.

Melbourne Napoleonics tournament 15-16 June 2019
The annual Napoleonics tournament run by the League of Ancients had a good turnout by current and former NSWC players - Al, Brett, Gervais, Kit, Mike, Philip, and Rob - making up a third of the field. Mike and Al took 4th and 5th places and Gervais got the Best Sport award in his first appearance at the competition. No podium places for us this year though!

Today's meeting was a little quieter than usual, with several people away at the D-Day tournament.
Brett and Andrew played Napoleonics, Alan and Kendall played Vanguard, and there was a Kings of War game.

There was a D-Day themed tournament hosted by Mighty Ape and several players from our club took part - Lee, Kit, Rob, and Ben. Ben's army won the prize for best painted army.

Natcon 19-21 April 2019
Natcon was hosted by the Kapiti club this year. There were just a few of us there, but we got a good haul of prizes. Kit won first place and the best army prize in Flames of War, Rob got the prize for best painted army in DBR, Philip was 2nd in DBR and Grant 3rd.
There was a good range of trade stands including Battle Kiwi, Kapiti Hobbies, and Kreative Scenery. Perhaps the most impressive was the display of 3-D printed models from Printable Scenery.

For the first meeting in a little while, the club had more games in periods other than Napoleonics, perhaps because of some of us getting some practice in for the Nationals.
One of the original DBR armies at the club, Stu's French, takes on the newest, Rob's Ottoman Turks.

Added Titan Terrain to our list of NZ manufacturers and suppliers. Titan is a Dunedin business making laser-cut terrain for sci-fi and WW2. Some nice stuff in there!

There was a good round of applause for Kendall's work as secretary for the past 16 years!
Fees are $50 for the year, or $5 a meeting for casual visitors.
We will be organising several events throughout the year - Kings of Shore (KOW), Push of Pike (DBR 15mm), a Flames of War event, and a FOG-N event in the second half of the year. More details to come!
Kendall and Rob had a game of Vanguard as a lead into a Kings or War game using Brotherhood and Kingdoms of Men.

A somewhat quieter meeting than usual with several of the club away at CanCon. Andrew had a couple of FOG-N games against Kendall and Corbon. Kit and Steve played some Flames of War Peiper scenario games on some excellent winter terrain.
Cancon 26-28 January 2019
Congratulations to Mike for winning 2nd place in the FOG-N competition at CanCon. There were six NZers in the 14-strong competition, and as well as Mike's silver, 4th, 5th and 6th places went to us too. A good amount of shopping was done at the trade stands too.
